Jammu/April 5:  The Department of Libraries & Research has roped in top IITian Vivek Gupta to conduct counselling and mentoring of the J&K students appearing in NEET-2017.

According to Director Libraries and Research,  Mukhtar-ul-Aziz, the counselling and mentoring session by  Gupta, who is a BTech from IIT Bombay, will be held at Srinagar on 13 April 2017.

Gupta, who has counselled around 30000 students across the country on how to crack various competitive examinations, will give tips and tricks to the JK students on how to prepare for and crack NEET.

Aziz said the students interested in counselling should register themselves at the office of the Deputy Director Libraries, Municipal Corporation Building, Karan Nagar, Srinagar on telephone nos:  0194-2481571, 0194-2482452 and 9419004558.

Pertinently, the Department of Libraries and Research has, in a maiden effort, this year launched one of the biggest e-coaching and e-learning initiatives in J&K to provide quality coaching and comprehensive solutions free to the students aspiring to appear in NEET, JEE and CET.

The initiative was launched by the Minister for Finance, Labour and Employment, Dr Haseeb Drabu in February this year.

Under this initiative, IT-enabled learning material, including video lectures, e-books and written notes have been made available free of cost in the government libraries across the state to facilitate students to prepare for NEET, JEE, CET and other competitive examinations.

Nearly 2,500 plus hours of video lectures, 75,000 questions with answers, 150 e-books and hard books are being made available to the students in the public libraries across the State.

“It is a revolutionary step in our education system. A student can simply walk in and get registered to access the material prepared by 100 IIT toppers for competitive exa There are computers, tabs and printed material which is provided free of cost. The only thing is that they have to sit in the libraries to access the material. It is not meant for taking home,” Mukhtar-ul-Aziz said and added that the students can also get in touch with mentors online, for any queries. “Suppose a student wants to answers to queries, s/he can seek help from the online mentors at no cost. And these mentors are all IIT toppers,” said  Aziz.

The students preparing for NEET have highly appreciated the quality material being provided by the Department of Libraries and Research and want the initiative to be carried forward and expanded further.
