Shopian: Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Mohammad Aijaz Wednesday flagged-off 24 sheep breeders of the district for a farm darshan exposure tour
The aim of the tour is to acquaint the breeders with latest technological interventions in the Sheep Husbandry sector.
During the tour, the breeders will visit SKUAST-Shuhama Ganderbal wherein they will be imparted latest know-how of sheep breeding and rearing by experts in the field. The tour is being organized by Sheep Husbandry Department Shopian.
On the occasion, the DC said such tours will help the breeders to acquaint themselves with the latest technology and practices and asked them to make the best use of the training program.
He also said requisite steps are underway to tap the potential of sheep breeding in the district and special focus is being given on generating awareness among youth to motivate them to adopt it as an economic activity.
District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Dr Rafiq Ahmad, Block Sheep Husbandry Officers, besides a large gathering of sheep farmers were present on the occasion.
