Srinagar: Chairman Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik was arrested by police along with party leader Ghulam Muhammad Dar and immediately shifted to central jail Srinagar, party said in a statement.
The statement issued here said, “Police raided JKLF office at Abi-Guzar Srinagar today and arrested Yasin Sahib and Ghulam Muhammad Dar. Both have been shifted to central jail Srinagar on a judicial remand.”
Prior to his arrest, JKLF Chairman while speaking to media said, “Kashmir has been turned into a big jail where young and old, men and women and even minors are being imprisoned, tortured and humiliated shamelessly. Every Kashmiri is living in a constant fear.”
“Today even I don’t know why I am being arrested but this has become a common practice of so-called rulers to arrest people and suppress their democratic voices by putting them behind bars,” JKLF chairman said.
“Indian rulers and their Kashmiri stooges by using police and army might to suppress peoples voices are actually making mockery of democracy and political ethics which is highly condemnable,” he said, “Harsh measures, oppressive and suppressive tactics, arrests, torture, vandalizing properties, humiliating common masses and choking political space has and can never put Kashmiris into submission because forcing any nation into submission by military is never possible.” (GNS)
