Srinagar: Police on Monday filed a charge sheet against four accused in last year’s attack on a police party in south Kashmir’s Achabal in which six policemen including Station House Officer Achabal were killed.
In a statement issued Monday, police spokesperson said that during the course of investigation it was established that Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants headed by Bashir Lashkari were involved in the attack. “On the basis of evidences collected during the course of investigation complicity of eight persons was established, of which two persons were arrested in the instant case,” said a police spokesperson.
The main accused in the instant case, Bashir Lashkari and Pakistani national Abu Maz were killed in an encounter at Branti Batpora.
Other accused Khurshid Ahmad Ganie, resident of Branti Dialgam, Mehraj- ud-din Bangroo, resident of Narparistan Fatehkadal Srinagar, Sahir Ahmad Makroo, resident of Arwani Bijbehara and Zeenatul Islam Shah, resident of Malnard Sugan Shopian are absconding in the case.
The accused persons in the instant case namely Sandeep Kumar and Muhammad Ashraf Wani were arrested and are presently in the judicial custody.
