Udhampur: In order to sensitize the women beneficiaries about the schemes being implemented by Jammu and Kashmir State Women’s Development Corporation (JKWDC) and sponsored by National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation Ministry of Minority Affairs, one day mega awareness camp cum loan mela was held at Town Hall Udhampur.
Managing Director Women’s Development Corporation, Dr. Naheed Soz inaugurated the mela in presence of Senior Superintendent of Police, Udhampur Jail Rajni Sehgal.
About 600 women beneficiaries of the district participated in the camp among whom loan application forms as well as Pamphlets were distributed during the mela.
While speaking on the occasion, MD Women’s Development Corporation highlighted various activities and achievements of the Corporation which have immensely contributed towards the empowerment of the women. She laid thrust on the importance of jute activity and its market and appealed the gathering to come forward and avail the benefits of the schemes of WDC for self reliance.
She also threw light on the issues related to the rights of women, Health, Nutrition, Female foeticide, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Domestic violence, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and skill development etc. She informed that the Corporation is providing assistance to the needy women by extending soft loan facilities to them to help establish and run their own income generating ventures, thereby helping in employment generation.
The camp was attended by the representatives of Health , Education, JKEDI, ICDS, and social welfare departments who also made these beneficiaries aware about the welfare programs being implemented by their respective departments.
The students of Government Higher Secondary School Udhampur were also present on the occasion.
