Shopian/Feb,2:Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chief Yasin Malik Friday morning reached at Jamia Masjid Shopian where he is likely to lead a procession against recent civilian killings in the south Kashmir district.
Malik had gone into hiding to evade arrest ahead of the proposed march to south Kashmir’s Shopian district, said a spokesman.
“Early morning, after two day long and tedious journey and hiding, Malik reached Jamia Masjid Shopian,” he said.
“He will lead a peaceful protest against killings by forces at Shopian,” said the spokesman.
Meanwhile, curfew like restrictions have been placed in the district to prevent the march called by the Joint Resistance Leadership – an amalgam of separatist outfits and headed by Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik.
Five civilians have been killed in the district in separate incidents since January 24.
Shakir Ahmad Mir was killed and two girls injured during a gunfight between militants and forces in Chaigund on January 25.
Three civilians were killed after army opened fire on protesters in Ganowpora village on January 27.
A minor boy Musharraf Fayaz injured in a shell explosion on January 25 at Chaigund gunfight site succumbed yesterday.
