Amid shutdown, thousands attend minor boy’s funeral at Shopian

Jammu: Amid internet clampdown in twin districts of South Kashmir, Pulwama and Shopian observed a complete shutdown against civilian killings.
Since January 24, seven persons including two militants Sameer Ahmed Wani of Odoo and Firdous Ahmed of Ganawpora and five civilians namely Shakir Mir of Qalampora Rajpora, Javaid Ahmed of Balpora, Suhail Ahmed of Ganowpora, Rayees Ahmed of Narpora and Musaib Fayaz Najar of Daramdar Keegam Shopian have been killed.
Report said that normal life was disrupted in the twin districts for the 8th consecutive day while all the shops and business establishments are shut and transport also remained off the roads.
Massive deployment of Government Forces was seen on the roads of these two districts. Witnesses said that group of youth targeted Forces vehicles with stones on Thursday morning near Muran Chowk Pulwama.
Mobile Internet service in both Pulwama and Shopian districts remained suspended for the ninth consecutive day.
Meanwhile, thousands of people participated in the last rites of ten year old boy Musaib Fayaz Najar at his native Daramdar Keegam village. The mourners raised pro-freedom and pro-Islamic slogans.
A day after encounter at Chaigund Shopian on January 24, Musaib was critically injured when an explosive substance went off while people were clearing the debris near the encounter site at Chaigund. He succumbed to his injures during wee hours on Thursday.
