SRINAGAR, Nov 8 – Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah on Sunday extended Diwali greetings to the Hindu community, expressing hope that the festival of lights would bring peace, prosperity and stability to Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and the rest of the country.

In a message, Farooq Abdullah said religious festivals promoted brotherhood, humanity and mutual understanding while strengthening communal harmony.

He appealed to people to remain united and resist attempts by divisive forces to undermine the region’s longstanding traditions of religious harmony and mutual tolerance.

Several senior National Conference leaders, including General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, party leaders and Rajya Sabha member Shammi Oberoi, also extended greetings on the occasion.
