Srinagar | Nov, 05: The J&K Fire & Emergency Services Department issued a public advisory on Thursday, urging residents to exercise caution with Bukharis, LPG heaters, electric blankets, and Kangris during the winter season.
Officials said improper handling of heating appliances sharply increases fire risks and asphyxiation hazards. The advisory stresses using standard-marked appliances, ensuring proper room ventilation, inspecting LPG connections, keeping Kangris away from bedding, avoiding socket overloading, and ensuring ash embers are completely extinguished before disposal. Householders were advised to keep fire extinguishers or water buckets ready, maintain clear exit routes, and contact the toll-free emergency helpline 101 or local control rooms immediately upon detecting a fire.
