ACM Ashutosh Dixit Outlines Priorities Under ‘VAYU’ Vision After Assuming Command

New Delhi | Nov, 02: Newly appointed Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, recalled the Indian Air Force’s pivotal role in Operation Sindoor on Monday, highlighting the force’s capability to deliver precise and decisive air power.
In his maiden address after taking over as the 29th Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Dixit emphasized that the evolving security landscape requires continuous high operational readiness. “I take over from Air Chief Marshal A P Singh, under whose leadership in ‘Operation Sindoor,’ the Air Force displayed what precise and decisive air power can achieve. I thank him for handing over a force in a high state of readiness,” he said.
Outlining the impacts of modern technology—including drones, long-range precision weapons, cyber, artificial intelligence, and the electromagnetic spectrum—Dixit stated that the IAF must remain ready to fight and win while transforming for future requirements.
Under his ‘VAYU’ vision, the new Air Chief prioritized vigilance, self-reliance, indigenous platform integration, and inter-service jointness. He stressed that restoring the IAF’s combat strength to its sanctioned level remains a foremost operational goal.
Air Chief Marshal Dixit assumed charge on October 31 following the retirement of Air Chief Marshal A P Singh after 42 years of distinguished service.
