Ganderbal | Oct, 31:In a spirited observance of National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) commemorating the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the District Administration Ganderbal Saturday organized a grand ‘Run for Unity’ march as the primary highlight of the day’s celebrations.
The Run for Unity March commenced from the lawns of the DC Office Complex, Ganderbal, and concluded at Qamariya Ground. The march was led by Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shreya Singhal, and joined by SSP Ganderbal, Harshal Rajesh Mahajan, ADC Ganderbal, ADDC Ganderbal, ACR Ganderbal, DFO Sind Forest Division, and other district and sectoral officers.
A diverse cross-section of society participated in the march, including officers and officials from all government departments, students, teachers and the general public. The march was enlivened by pipe bands from JKP Ganderbal and J&K Sainik School Manasbal.
Following the march, a grand assembly gathered at Qamariya Ground, where DC Ganderbal administered the National Unity Pledge to all participants, pledging the district’s collective commitment to upholding the unity, integrity, and security of the nation.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the event, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted that the district is celebrating the event on the lines of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas to uphold the values and legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. She expressed gratitude to all participants, students, officials, and civil society members for their active involvement. She further informed the media that similar programs and pledge-taking ceremonies are being organized at the sub-division, tehsil, and block levels across district Ganderbal so that the spirit of unity reaches every far corner of the district.
The celebrations had earlier commenced with a vibrant Cyclothon under the banner of “Run for Unity,” which was flagged off from the Clock Tower Ganderbal by ACR Ganderbal, and culminated at Gadoora College. The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from local youth.
