Flags ambulances getting stranded, students missing classes and commuters facing prolonged waits; urges LG Manoj Sinha to balance security requirements with public convenience
Srinagar, October 30: Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Health and Medical Education and Social Welfare Sakeena Masood Itoo has urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and the concerned authorities to introduce practical traffic management measures to minimise public inconvenience caused by frequent convoy movement on the Srinagar–Anantnag–Kulgam–Qazigund National Highway.
In a post on X, Itoo highlighted the difficulties faced by commuters, stating that while travelling frequently on the highway, it was deeply distressing to see ambulances stranded, students missing classes and ordinary citizens waiting for 15–30 minutes, sometimes even hours, for convoy movement.
“What fault have our people committed to endure such hardships?” she questioned.
She earnestly appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and the concerned authorities to explore practical traffic management measures that uphold essential security protocols while ensuring uninterrupted passage for ambulances and minimising public inconvenience.
“Security is paramount, but so is the well-being of our people. Security and compassion must go hand in hand,” Itoo said.
She further stressed that governance should be reflected not just in policies, but in the everyday lives of citizens through dignity, sensitivity and meaningful relief.
