Seven-day exchange programme brings IIT Bombay delegation closer to Kashmir’s heritage, traditions and people

Srinagar : The seven-day Yuva Sangam Phase VII programme at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar concluded on Tuesday with the departure of a delegation from IIT Bombay, marking the end of a cultural exchange initiative under the Government of India’s Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) programme. The program was attended among others by Registrar Prof. Atikur Rehman and Yuva Sangam Nodal Officer to bid farewell to the delegation.

Throughout the programme, participants engaged with the cultural heritage, spiritual landmarks, and natural landscapes of Jammu and Kashmir, while also interacting with local communities. A notable visit on the sixth day included the Shankaracharya Temple and Nishat Garden, where the delegation gained insights into the region’s historical and architectural significance. The cultural evening at NIT Srinagar featured performances by students from both Jammu and Kashmir and Maharashtra, showcasing their respective traditions through dance, music, and poetry. The programme commenced with a traditional lighting ceremony and included various cultural activities aimed at fostering mutual understanding and appreciation between the two regions. The event concluded with tokens of appreciation and a gala dinner, emphasizing the connections formed during the exchange. Yuva Sangam, as part of the EBSB initiative, aims to strengthen ties among youth from different states through shared cultural experiences. The successful completion of Phase VII at NIT Srinagar highlighted the importance of celebrating India’s diversity and building stronger relationships among its young citizens.
