Project expected to benefit dozens of villages and support tourism-linked livelihoods
Budgam :Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Speaker and Charar-i-Sharief MLA Abdul Rahim Rather on Saturday inaugurated the 5-kilometre Kutbal–Yousmarg road, a long-pending project expected to improve connectivity for dozens of villages and strengthen access to the tourist destination of Yousmarg.
The road is expected to facilitate the movement of local residents and improve access to the area, while creating opportunities for tourism-related activities, trade and employment.
Speaking after the inauguration, Rather said strengthening road connectivity in rural and remote areas was essential for equitable development and improved access to essential services.
He stressed the need to address connectivity-related issues, complete road projects within stipulated timelines and maintain prescribed quality standards.
Rather said infrastructure development must translate into tangible benefits for people living in far-flung areas, while helping unlock the tourism and economic potential of underserved regions.
Residents welcomed the inauguration, describing the road as the fulfilment of a long-standing demand. They said improved connectivity with Yousmarg could open new avenues for tourism, trade and livelihood generation.
The project is expected to improve access between the villages and the tourist destination, although details regarding the road’s construction cost, executing agency and maintenance arrangements were not provided in the official statement.
