Udhampur :District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Udhampur, under the guidance of Chairperson (Principal District and Sessions Judge) Kalpana Revo and the supervision of Sub Judge/Secretary Sumati Sharma, Thursday  convened the 4th meeting of Under Trial Review Committee-2026. The meeting was held in the Conference Hall of the District Court Complex to evaluate cases of under-trial prisoners and to ensure compliance with legal safeguards and timely justice.

The meeting was chaired by DLSA Chairperson Kalpana Revo and attended by Sub-Judge/Secretary Sumati Sharma, Additional District Magistrate Prem Singh Chib; Additional Superintendent of Police Shivender Singh Jamwal  and Superintendent District Jail Mohammad  Irfan Khan,.

The Committee reviewed cases in light of the Supreme Court guidelines and NALSA SOPs, focusing on prisoners with no proper representation or those who have spent substantial time behind bars.

The Committee recommended the release of eligible prisoners by filling bail applications before appropriate Courts and ensuring that the benefits of legal provisions reach to the intended beneficiaries, especially prisoners. The meeting also discussed action taken, such as conducting regular meetings to track progress, maintaining a consolidated data sheet to monitor prisoners’ cases and preparing quarterly reports.

The meeting concluded with appreciation expressed by Chairperson District Legal Services Authority (Pr. Distt. & Sessions Judge) to all the stakeholders for their proactive participation in addressing the concerns related to under trial prisoners.
