Srinagar | October, 17: The Power Development Department (PDD) through the Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced a revised Load Curtailment Plan (LCP) for the Kashmir division, linking daily power supply directly to Aggregate Technical and Commercial (AT&C) loss levels.
Officials said that areas suffering from high AT&C losses exceeding 65 percent will experience up to 8 hours of daily power curtailment. Localities recording losses between 40.5 and 65 percent will face 6 hours of cuts, while regions with losses between 15 and 40.5 percent will see a 3-hour daily shutdown.
Under the revised framework, areas maintaining low losses between 0 and 15 percent will experience minimal disruption, restricted to just 30 minutes of daily curtailment. Officials noted that out of the 1,335 KV feeders managed by KPDCL, 85 new feeders have been upgraded to provide 24/7 uninterrupted power supply due to keeping their AT&C losses below 20 percent, bringing the total number of round-the-clock feeders to 214. The revised schedule follows strict departmental directives issued earlier to enforce accountability, improve billing and collection efficiencies, and reduce overall distribution losses across the division.
