1. Omar Abdullah Sees J&K As Emerging GCC Hub: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has invited investors to explore Jammu and Kashmir as a destination for Global Capability Centres (GCCs), promising support for ease of doing business. Addressing the J&K GCC Summit 2026 virtually, he said GCCs could create jobs, retain local talent and boost the region’s technology-driven economy.
2. IGP Kashmir Rewards Budgam Police Personnel: IGP Kashmir Sujit Kumar Singh has rewarded Budgam police personnel for exemplary service. Beerwah Police was recognised for exposing an alleged fake employment syndicate, while Magam Police was appreciated for adopting the Digital Beat Policing System.
3. Over 24,000 Houses Damaged In Floods: More than 24,000 residential structures were damaged by flash floods and cloudbursts across Jammu and Kashmir during 2025-26 and 2026-27, according to data presented in the Legislative Assembly. The Government said relief was being provided under the existing State Disaster Response Fund norms, while no separate special rehabilitation package had been sanctioned so far.
4. Police Warns Against Fake Loan Apps: J&K Police has warned people against fake loan apps used to steal personal data and facilitate online fraud. Users have been advised to verify lenders, check RBI regulation, review app credibility and avoid unnecessary permissions.
5. Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi Waterways Targeted For 2027: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo has reviewed preparations to operationalise three National Waterways in J&K during 2026–27. The projects aim to promote river tourism and passenger transport, with 10 hybrid electric catamarans planned for the Jhelum route.
