Srinagar |Oct, 8:Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday said the rapid expansion and modernization of railway infrastructure is creating new opportunities for tourism, horticulture, industry and other sectors of Jammu and Kashmir’s economy.
Sinha made the remarks while interacting with a delegation of media representatives from Mumbai at Lok Bhavan here.
Highlighting the infrastructure development witnessed across Jammu and Kashmir in recent years, the Lieutenant Governor said the realisation of rail connectivity from Kashmir to Kanyakumari marked a historic milestone in the region’s development journey.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the expansion of railway infrastructure is driving a major boost in the tourism, horticulture, industrial and other economy sectors of the Union Territory,” he said.
He said improved railway connectivity would facilitate the movement of tourists, agricultural and horticultural produce and industrial goods, while creating wider opportunities for businesses and local communities.
The Lieutenant Governor said Jammu and Kashmir was moving forward with unprecedented confidence towards peace and prosperity, with modern infrastructure playing an important role in supporting the region’s economic growth.
Sinha also underlined the strategic importance of strengthening connectivity, particularly in border areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said better connectivity was vital not only for promoting economic activity and improving access to markets and services but also for safeguarding national security.
The visiting media delegation from Mumbai is on a four-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir to study the region’s railway network and infrastructure. The delegation is accompanied by Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Vineet Abhishek and senior railway officials.
During the visit, the media representatives are focusing on the development of railway infrastructure and its wider significance for connectivity and the socio-economic development of Jammu and Kashmir.
