GHSS Dawar Gurez Students Visit JKAACL for Interaction-cum-Exposure Tour

Srinagar,: The Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL), Srinagar, hosted an Interaction-cum-Exposure Tour for students of Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Dawar, Gurez, as part of their internship course.

The programme was presided over by Secretary JKAACL, Harvinder Kour, with Additional Secretary, Lal Chand, and Principal GHSS Dawar, Gurez, Mohammad Asadullah, in the presidium.

Salim Salik, Editor, Urdu, JKAACL, briefed the students about the Academy’s history, mandate and functioning, with particular emphasis on its literary publications, cultural activities and initiatives for the promotion and preservation of regional languages and literature. He also apprised them about the activities of the Urdu Wing and its publications.

The students actively participated in the interaction, sought information about the Academy’s literary and cultural initiatives, and also visited the JKAACL Library to familiarise themselves with its resources.

Speaking on the occasion, Harvinder Kour appreciated the students and faculty of GHSS Dawar for undertaking the exposure tour and stressed the importance of preserving the region’s linguistic heritage. She encouraged the students to learn Shina language and contribute to its promotion through writing and creative expression.

Lal Chand welcomed the students and faculty members and highlighted the importance of such interactions in providing students with practical exposure to literary and cultural institutions. He also shared his views and recited his poetry on the occasion.

The programme was attended by Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Lone, Jammel Ansari, Gh. Mohiuddin Dar, Miskeen Shah, Ishfaq Ahmad Shah and other officials and staff members of JKAACL, besides the students and faculty of GHSS Dawar, Gurez.

The visit provided the students with valuable insight into JKAACL’s role in preserving and promoting the linguistic, literary and cultural heritage of Jammu & Kashmir.
