Sopore : A 25-year-old youth from Janwara in Sopore is pursuing a career in cinematography after completing his journalism studies, moving from the field of reporting towards camera work and visual production.
Mir Munaib, a journalism graduate from City Group of Institutions, Jalandhar, said his interest in cameras and filmmaking developed during his studies and eventually led him to take up cinematography professionally.
His interest was further shaped by the work of photographer Junaid Bhat and filmmaker Eeshan Peer, whose work in photography and visual production influenced his decision to pursue the field.
Munaib subsequently joined JB Studio and also worked with Pixel Visual Studio, where he gained practical experience in camera work and filmmaking. The assignments provided him an opportunity to work with other professionals and develop his technical skills.
Since then, he has worked on professional as well as independent projects, gradually building experience in cinematography and visual storytelling.
Unlike a conventional career path based on his journalism qualification, Munaib chose to move towards visual production, combining his academic background with an interest in cameras and filmmaking.
His shift also reflects the increasing interest among young people in Sopore and other parts of Kashmir in photography, cinematography and digital video production as career options.
Munaib continues to work on new projects while developing his skills in cinematography. At 25, he remains focused on gaining more experience and expanding his work in the field.
