Srinagar | October, 6: Light rain lashed parts of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday as the Meteorological Centre in Srinagar forecast intermittent showers, thunderstorms, and gusty winds at several places over the coming days.
The weather remained generally cloudy across the Union Territory, with light rain reported from some areas and light snowfall likely over higher reaches during precipitation spells, the weather office said. According to the latest forecast, generally dry weather is expected on October 7, though brief spells of light rain may occur at a few places. On October 8, generally cloudy weather with light rain and light snowfall over higher reaches is likely at scattered places, followed by another brief spell toward the evening of October 9. Conditions are expected to turn more unsettled on October 10, bringing light rain or snowfall over higher reaches, thunderstorms, and gusty winds to many places, particularly during morning and forenoon hours.
Generally dry weather is forecast from October 11 to the evening of October 13, before another spell of cloudy weather, light rain, higher-reach snowfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds returns on October 14 and 15. In view of these predictions, the weather department has advised farmers to ensure safe storage of harvested apples and paddy between October 6 and 10. People have also been urged to stay away from loose structures, electric wires, and old trees during strong winds.
