Srinagar | Oct, 01:The Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar, organised a one-day national seminar on “Hindi and Other Indian Languages: Status and Prospects” on the concluding day of RajbhashaPakhwada.
The seminar was organised under the aegis of the Central Hindi Directorate, Ministry of Education, Government of India, and Bharatiya Bhasha Manch, in collaboration with RRIUM Srinagar under the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine, Ministry of AYUSH.
The event was inaugurated by A. Vinod, Trustee, Bharatiya Bhasha Manch and National Convenor, Shiksha SanskritiUtthanNyas. Harvinder Kaur, Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, was the chief guest, while Anil Joshi of Vishwa Hindi Parivar attended as guest of honour. Dr Irfat Ara, Deputy Director, RRIUM Srinagar, chaired the programme.
Dr Anis Ahmad, In-charge, Hindi Section, welcomed the participants, while Dr Neelofar Hameed conducted the proceedings.
Several scholars and language experts were felicitated for their contributions, including Padma Shri Prof ShafiShauq, Kashmiri language expert; Dr Javed Aziz, linguist; Dr Mushtaq Hussain Magloo, Associate Professor, University of Kashmir and Urdu language expert; Dr Mukti Sharma, writer and Dogri-Punjabi language expert; Dr Mudasir Ahmad Bhat, Assistant Professor, University of Kashmir and Hindi language expert; and Dr Sabzar Ahmad Battoo, Hindi language expert, NIT Srinagar.
During the technical sessions, Prof Geeta Nayak, Dr Mudasir Ahmad Bhat, Dr Mukti Sharma, Dr Sabzar Ahmad Battoo, Dr Mushtaq Hussain Magloo, Dr Javed Aziz, Dr Arshid Iqbal, Dr Tausif, Dr M. Afsahul Kalam, Dr Anis Ahmad and Dr Neelofar Hameed presented their views on the status, challenges and prospects of Indian languages.
Literary presentations in Hindi, Kashmiri, Urdu, Dogri and Punjabi were also held.
The winners of various RajbhashaPakhwada competitions, including speech, Hindi typing, and Hindi noting and drafting, were presented prizes and certificates on the occasion.
