Bandipora : District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, Thursday  chaired a meeting of the District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM) to review the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in the district, with focus on geo-tagging of water sources, post-monsoon water quality testing, Jal Arpan activities, Har Ghar Jal certification and Functional Household Tap Connection (FHTC) coverage.

During the meeting, it was informed that geo-tagging of all water sources in the district is scheduled to commence from October 2, 2026 and is targeted for completion by December 31, 2026. It was also apprised that post-monsoon water quality testing of all water sources will commence from October 2 and will be undertaken in a systematic and time-bound manner.

The meeting further reviewed the status of Jal Arpan activities in certified villages and the progress towards formal certification of villages reported as Har Ghar Jal. It was informed that efforts are being made to minimise the gap between villages reported as Har Ghar Jal and those formally certified, with 100 percent certification of all reported Har Ghar Jal villages being targeted.

The DDC directed all concerned implementing agencies to ensure completion of JJM schemes within the stipulated timelines and maintain close monitoring of physical progress. She called for timely identification and resolution of bottlenecks affecting the execution of schemes.

Directions were also passed to ensure 100 percent FHTC coverage across the district, with the concerned agencies asked to undertake close monitoring and coordinated efforts to achieve the target.

The DDC further directed all concerned officers and implementing agencies to maintain close coordination and undertake regular monitoring to ensure effective and timely implementation of JJM activities across the district.

The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Bandipora, Mohammad Maqbool; Superintending Engineer, Jal Shakti (PHE) Circle Bandipora, Anbreena Anjum; Executive Engineers; Project Manager (DPMU, JJM), Shayeq Ahmad; and Executive/Junior Engineers, along with other concerned technical staff.
