Beerwah : As part of the ongoing Seva Pakhwada, MY Bharat Budgam, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, organised a cleanliness and awareness drive at Government High School, Chanapora, Beerwah, Budgam, with active participation from students and youth volunteers.
The programme aimed to promote the spirit of Seva (service) among students and young people while creating awareness about cleanliness, environmental responsibility, proper waste management and community participation. MY Bharat volunteers and students actively participated in the cleanliness drive and cleaned the school premises and surrounding areas.
During the programme, students were sensitised about the importance of maintaining a clean, healthy and hygienic environment. They were also educated about proper waste disposal, waste segregation, avoiding littering on roads and public places, reducing the use of single-use plastics, and maintaining cleanliness both in schools and within the community.
The volunteers encouraged students to become “Ambassadors of Cleanliness” and carry the message of cleanliness, hygiene, environmental protection and responsible waste management to their homes and local communities.
The programme also provided young volunteers with an opportunity to develop practical skills in leadership, teamwork, volunteering and community service. Their active participation reflected their commitment towards community welfare and voluntary service.
The organisers emphasised that cleanliness activities should not remain limited to special occasions but should become an integral part of everyday life. Students, youth, educational institutions and local communities should work together to contribute towards a cleaner and healthier environment.
