Srinagar | September, 30: Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Northern Command, visited South Kashmir to assess the prevailing security scenario and review the progress of ongoing counter-terror operations, officials said.
During the operational review, the Army Commander evaluated field deployments and tactical progress in the region. Officials said Lt Gen Sharma commended the troops and security formations for their seamless synergy, unwavering dedication, and sustained commitment toward counter-terrorism efforts in Jammu and Kashmir.
Operation Korag was launched following specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of terrorists in the Korag-Yousmarg area of Budgam district. A joint operation conducted by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF resulted in an intense exchange of fire, during which top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Musa alias Asif Fauji was eliminated. Reports said search operations in the sector were continuing at the time of filing.
