Says “3 Health infrastructure projects are presently under execution in B’pora”
Srinagar, | Sept: 28:Minister for Health and Medical Education, SakeenaItoo, today informed the Legislative Assembly that the Government is taking sustained measures to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, manpower and service delivery in Bandipora Constituency, with particular focus on peripheral, underserved, remote and difficult areas.
In a major update on the region’s medical infrastructure, Health Minister Sakeena Itoo informed the Legislative Assembly that 31 healthcare institutions—including the District Hospital, ANMT School, PHCs, NTPHCs, and Health & Wellness Centres—are currently fully operational in the Bandipora Constituency. Responding to queries raised by MLA Nizam-ud-din Bhat, the Minister emphasized that the administration is systematically evaluating local requirements to upgrade facilities, with special priority being given to remote, peripheral, and difficult terrains. Clarifying rumors surrounding incomplete projects, she confirmed that no facility in the constituency has been abandoned. While NTPHC QuilMuqam and District Hospital Bandipora remain functional, execution on NTPHC Wular Lake is progressing rapidly and is scheduled for completion by the end of the current financial year.
To complement the ongoing physical expansion, the government is executing a major manpower augmentation drive to eliminate staffing shortages. Out of 416 Medical Officers recommended by the J&K Public Service Commission, 335 have already been appointed and will be strategically deployed to underserved and rural areas to maximize healthcare delivery. Additionally, 466 Non-Gazetted positions under the Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir, have been referred to recruiting agencies for candidate selection. With three key infrastructure projects currently under execution, the phased modernizations are set to significantly transform health services and accessibility for Bandipora’s local population upon completion.
