Anantnag : Police on Tuesday said that it has booked a habitual drug offender under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act as part of its sustained anti-narcotics drive.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday Police said the offender, identified as Peer Asif Rashid @ Asif Peer S/O Peer Abdul Rashid R/O Khushroo Kalan, Srigufwara, has been repeatedly involved in multiple NDPS cases. The detention order was formally executed, and the accused was subsequently lodged in District Jail Bhaderwah. Anantnag Police has now booked 16 habitual drug peddlers under the PIT-NDPS Act during the year 2026 to disrupt regional narcotics networks.
