Kishtwar, :Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Pankaj Kumar Sharma Tuesday chaired a meeting to review the proposals for development of sports infrastructure and procurement of sports equipment under the Khelo India Scheme.
The District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Jaffer Haider Sheikh, apprised the Chair of the proposals formulated by the department.
Under the infrastructure component, the Department has proposed Multipurpose Indoor Stadium for Paddar, Chatroo, Kishtwar, Bunjwah, Trigam, Marwah, Warwan, Dachan and Thakraie; installation of LED lights for night sports activities at GulabgarhPaddar and Chowgan Ground; Open Stadium for Cricket, Volleyball, Football, Kabaddi and Athletics; Swimming Pool at Chatroo; Synthetic Volleyball Courts, Dangal Grounds and Gymnasium Halls in all 13 Blocks and Construction of Youth Hostel at Trigam (GaliGhar).
Proposal of sports equipment for competitions and league matches includes Volleyball poles, balls, nets and inflators; Cricket kits and pitch roller; Athletics equipment including Shot Put, Discus, Javelin and measuring tapes; Badminton nets, rackets and shuttle boxes; Yoga mats; besides Electric Generator Sets, Ground Marking Lime Power Machines and Sound Systems for all 13 blocks of the district.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned Tehsildars to identify suitable and feasible land and to check feasibility of the projects in consultation with the District Youth Services and Sports Department, with coverage of far-flung blocks like Marwah, Warwan, Dachan and Paddar.
The meeting was attended by ADC Pawan Kotwal; ACD Manoj Kumar; DSEO/CPO Suresh Sharma; all SDMs (virtually), ACP Neeraj Sharma; all Tehsildars (virtually) and other concerned officers.
