September 20: Continuing it sustained drive against illegal mining and transportation of minerals, Police have seized nine vehicles including two dumpers and seven tractors involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Shopian and Sopore.
The vehicles were found involved in the extraction and transportation of mining material, without valid authorization and in violation of the prescribed norms.
Meanwhile in Sopore, Sopore Police seized two vehicles involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in the jurisdiction of PS Panzalla and PP Fruit Mandi.
Accordingly, the vehicles were seized on the spot and multiple FIRs under relevant provisions of law stand registered at the concerned police stations. Further investigation in the matter has been initiated.
J&K Police reiterated its firm commitment to protecting the districts natural resources and taking strict legal action against individuals involved in illegal mining activities. The general public has been urged to cooperate with the police and report any such unlawful activities.
