LG Sinha Releases Four Books, Bids Farewell to OSD Lt Col Jankar

Srinagar | Sept. 17:Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday released four books covering Kashmiri literature, Indian philosophy and contemporary interpretations of the Bhagavad Gita at Lok Bhavan, Srinagar, besides according a farewell to his outgoing Officer on Special Duty, Lt Col Prashant Jankar.
Sinha released ‘Journal of the Waypoints’, authored by writer, translator and poet Mushtaque B. Barq, featuring 40 selected Kashmiri poems of acclaimed multilingual poet Dr Satish Vimal. The poems have been translated into English and critically analysed by Barq, bringing Vimal’s literary work to a wider readership.
The Lieutenant Governor appreciated Barq’s efforts in translating and analysing the poetry and wished both the author and poet success in their literary pursuits. Publisher Sheikh Waseem was also present.
On the occasion, Sinha also released ‘Living the Gita Thursday ’, authored by Prof Vandana Sharma, Dr ShachiSood and Dr Vinay Kumar. Published by Allied Publishers, Noida, with the support of BharatiyaShikshan Mandal, the book discusses 90 selected verses of the Bhagavad Gita across 10 chapters and examines their relevance to contemporary issues including stress, leadership, purpose, ethical living and inner conflict.
The book seeks to connect Indian knowledge traditions with contemporary social and personal challenges.
Sinha also released ‘History of Kashmiri Language and Poetry’, authored by Abdul Ahad Azad and translated by Umar Shah, and ‘The Stranger Besides Me’ by Prof Neerja Mattoo. The two books have been published by Gulshan Books Kashmir.
The Lieutenant Governor congratulated the authors, translators and publishers associated with the publications.
Sheikh Ajaz, Chairman, Gulshan Books, and Managing Directors Sheikh Meelad and Sheikh Maied were present during the release.
Meanwhile, Sinha and officers and staff of Lok Bhavan accorded a farewell to outgoing OSD Lt Col Prashant Jankar.
Sinha felicitated Lt Col Jankar and appreciated his dedication and professional integrity during his tenure. He wished him good health and success in his future assignments.
