Udhampur| Sept. 12:Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa Saturday chaired a meeting of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) in his office chamber to review various matters pertaining to regulation and management of passenger transport services in the district.
At the outset, ARTO Mudassir Iqbal briefed the chair about the agenda items and the proposals placed before the Authority for consideration.
After a comprehensive discussion, the Regional Transport Authority approved 26 route permits, comprising 02 heavy buses, 16 mini buses, 08 four-wheeler Magic vehicles to operate within the jurisdiction of Jammu and Kashmir.
The DC emphasized the need for prompt implementation of the approved route permits, while maintaining strict regulatory monitoring to prevent overloading, overcharging and other irregularities in vehicular operations.
He also stressed the importance of close coordination among all concerned departments and enforcement agencies to ensure smooth traffic movement, passenger convenience and effective regulation of public transport services.
