Srinagar | September, 12: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday conducted searches across 10 locations in Kupwara, Kulgam, Bandipora, Baramulla, and Sopore in connection with a cross-border terror conspiracy involving Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) handlers and their local Over Ground Workers (OGWs). An NIA spokesperson stated that the searches aimed to unearth evidence regarding the conspiracy and determine the roles of individuals supplying logistical support to infiltrated terrorists. The case was initially registered as FIR No. 0024/2026 at Police Station Zakoora, Srinagar, and subsequently re-registered by the NIA as RC-02/2026/NIA/JMU under Section 23 of the UA(P) Act, Sections 7 and 25 of the Arms Act, and Section 4 of the Explosive Substances Act.
The investigation commenced following the arrest of an LeT-linked OGW on March 31, 2026, at a security check point, where a hand grenade and live ammunition were recovered. Officials said subsequent probes led to the arrest of Pakistani nationals linked to the network and helped identify local support structures used for communication, movement, shelter, and reconnaissance. The NIA spokesperson added that the agency is examining financial trails, communication channels, and arms supply chains to dismantle the complete network. Incriminating material seized during Saturday’s searches is currently being corroborated with existing evidence as the investigation continues.
