Srinagar, Sept 8 : The SKIMS Medical College Hospital, Bemina, has issued a show-cause notice to Clinical Resident Medical Interns (CRMIs) for allegedly remaining absent from their assigned duties for the past one week, stating that their absence has adversely affected patient care and emergency services at the hospital.
According to the notice issued by the Principal, SKIMS Medical College, Bemina, the authorities have taken serious note of the alleged non-attendance of a number of CRMIs at their assigned duties.
The notice cites the National Medical Commission (NMC) Notification No. UGMEB/NMC/Rules and Regulations/2021 dated November 18, 2021, stating that such conduct amounts to gross indiscipline and professional misconduct and may warrant disciplinary measures, including curtailment, temporary suspension or cancellation of internship.
The hospital further said that the CRMIs had submitted affidavits at the time of joining, undertaking to remain disciplined and abide by the rules and regulations of the college and not engage in strikes, court cases or other acts of indiscipline.
The authorities have directed all CRMIs who have not been attending their duties to submit an explanation within 24 hours, detailing why appropriate disciplinary action should not be initiated against them.
The notice warned that failure to submit an explanation within the stipulated period would be presumed as having no defence, and the matter would be dealt with strictly under the applicable rules.
The development comes amid concerns over the impact of the alleged absence on patient care and emergency services at the hospital.
