Leh : Royal Enfield has introduced the Himalayan 440 at the inaugural Himalayan Basecamp in Ladakh, celebrating ten years since the launch of the original Himalayan motorcycle.
Priced at ₹2.29 lakh (ex-showroom), the Himalayan 440 features a new 443cc long-stroke single-cylinder engine that delivers 25.4 bhp and 34 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox designed to enhance both low-speed riding and highway performance. The motorcycle maintains the rugged aesthetic and ergonomic riding position of its predecessor while incorporating mechanical improvements aimed at durability, comfort, and versatility for touring. Key specifications include a half-duplex split-cradle frame, 41mm telescopic front forks with 200mm travel, and a linkage-type rear monoshock with 180mm travel. It is equipped with 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels, providing a ground clearance of 220mm. With an 800mm seat height and a 15-litre fuel tank, the Himalayan 440 is suitable for both daily commutes and long-distance journeys. Braking is managed by a 300mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc, complemented by dual-channel ABS that can be adjusted for different terrains.
Additional features include an LED headlamp, a digital-analogue instrument cluster, Tripper navigation, and USB Type-C charging. The motorcycle will be available in three colors: Sela Black, Mustang Brown, and Nelong White, with initial units showcasing a special 10-year anniversary badge. Bookings commenced on September 4 through authorized dealerships and the official website. The Himalayan family, which includes the original Himalayan and the recently launched Himalayan 450, has achieved global sales exceeding 3.2 lakh units over the past decade. Royal Enfield has also launched a variety of accessories for the Himalayan 440, such as panniers, top boxes, touring seats, handguards, and engine protection equipment.
