Ang : Police on Saturday said that four unlawfuls involved in illegal forest timber smuggling have been apprehended in Anantnag district.
In a statement issued here on Saturday Police said that during the intervening night of 4th and 5th of September a police party from Police Station Larnoo arrested four smugglers red-handed while they were allegedly cutting and loading illicit forest timber onto a tractor bearing registration number JK03M-5421 in the Matihindoo area. The apprehended unlawfuls have been identified as Bashir Ahmad Khari, Irshad Ahmad Khari, Shabir Ahmad Pathan, and Niyaz Ahmad Khari, all residents of Matihindoo.
The tractor used in the crime has been seized under due procedure. A case under the relevant provisions of law has been registered, and a formal investigation has been launched to protect local forest resources.
