Srinagar, Sept 4- J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah Friday met union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and discussed key issues including restoration of statehood, finalisation of the Transaction of Business Rules and rationalisation of reservations.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office, the meeting focused on matters related to public welfare and development in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Chief Minister met Hon’ble union Home Minister Shri @AmitShah in New Delhi today and discussed key issues concerning Jammu & Kashmir. The meeting focused on restoration of Statehood, finalisation of the Transaction of Business Rules, rationalisation of reservations, and other important matters concerning public welfare and development,” the office of CM said on X.
Restoration of statehood has remained a key demand of the Omar Abdullah-led government, with the issue being repeatedly raised with the Centre. In July, J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, his father Farooq Abdullah along with dozens of MLAs and ministers, staged a protest in Delhi’s to demand the restoration of statehood to J&K.
The Chief Minister during the meeting also briefed the Home Minister on the First International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir (IFFJK), scheduled to begin in Srinagar next week.
The Chief Minister thanked Shah for the timely assistance being extended to Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of flood-related damage reported across several areas.
