Sopore, September 3: In a significant action against properties linked to the proscribed Jamaat-e-Islami Jammu & Kashmir (JeI), Sopore Police has attached two buildings, six shops and 02 Kanals of land at Dooru, Sopore, after completion of due legal process under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
The properties surfaced during investigation of FIR No. 42/2025 under Sections 10 and 13 of the UA(P) Act, registered at Police Station Sopore. Sustained investigation, scrutiny of official and revenue records and verification through concerned authorities established the linkage of the premises with Jamaat-e-Islami J&K.
Based on a detailed dossier submitted by Sopore Police, the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, vide order dated 12.08.2026, notified the premises of Islamia Model School, Dooru (closed since 2022), comprising two double-storied buildings, six shops and 02 Kanals of land, under Section 8(1) of the UA(P) Act, 1967.
Thereafter, on the request of Sopore Police, the District Magistrate, Baramulla, issued necessary orders under Sections 8(3) and 8(4) of the UA(P) Act. In pursuance of these orders, Sopore Police, accompanied by the Executive Magistrate, carried out the attachment of the notified properties on ground in accordance with law.
The action is the outcome of sustained investigation aimed at identifying and legally proceeding against properties and assets linked to proscribed organisations and their associated networks.
Sopore Police reiterates its commitment to take firm and lawful action against proscribed organisations and separatist ecosystems and to ensure that properties linked to such organisations are not used for furtherance of unlawful activities.
