Gulmarg records coolest maximum at 24°C, Jammu reaches 34.5°C
Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir is likely to experience generally hot and humid weather over the coming days, accompanied by brief spells of rain and thundershowers at several places, officials said.
Scattered rain is expected during early morning and afternoon hours on August 30, followed by light to moderate rainfall across many places on August 31 and September 1. Officials warned that brief, intense showers in localized areas could trigger flash floods, mudslides, and landslides during this period, though general dry weather will prevail from September 2 to 10.
Meanwhile, elevated temperatures were recorded across key stations. Srinagar logged a maximum temperature of 33.5°C (4.6 degrees above normal), while Jammu reached 34.5°C. Among tourist destinations, Pahalgam recorded 28°C, while Gulmarg registered the lowest maximum at 24°C. Katra recorded 30°C along with 84.2 mm of rainfall in 24 hours. Weather officials have advised farmers to proceed with agricultural operations while urging residents in vulnerable areas to remain cautious.
