JKP Cop From Uri Nominated As Referee & Judge For U-19 World Boxing Championship Selection Trials

Srinagar, Aug 26: Jammu and Kashmir Police constable Sajjad Ahmad Pathan from Uri Baramulla has been nominated as a Referee & Judge for the U-19 Men & Women Selection Trials for the World Championship.

 

The selection trials are being held at Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports (NSNIS), Patiala, Punjab from 27th to 31st August 2026 to select the Indian team for the U-19 World Boxing Championship 2026.

 

In a letter to Additional Director General of Police (Armed) J&K, the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) has said that Mr. Sajjad Pathan, a qualified Technical Official of the BFI, has been nominated by the BFI Referee & Judges Commission to officiate as a Referee & Judge during the selection trial.

 

BFI has requested the department to relieve Mr. Sajjad Pathan from 26th August to 31st August 2026 to enable him to attend the event. He is required to report at 9:00 AM on 26th August 2026 at NSNIS, Patiala.

 

The nomination of Pathan, who hails from Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, has been widely appreciated in sporting circles of J&K. (GNS)
