Ganderbal, Aug 24: The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), in a joint rescue operation with local volunteers, on Monday retrieved the body of a nine-year-old boy who had drowned in Nallah Sindh in Ganderbal district.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Mohsin (9), son of Mukthar Ahmad, a resident of Bamloora, Ganderbal. He had reportedly drowned in Nallah Sindh on August 23, 2026, near the Fire & Emergency Headquarters at Fatehpora, Ganderbal.
According to officials, SDRF rescue teams from Battalion Headquarters Srinagar, Ganderbal and Gund, along with local volunteers, carried out an extensive search operation before successfully retrieving the body on August 24, 2026.
The body was subsequently handed over to the concerned authorities for completion of legal formalities before being returned to the family for the last rites.
