*Baramulla | August 23, : Continuing its sustained crackdown against illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of minor minerals, Baramulla Police intercepted four vehicles at different locations across the district, initiating necessary action under the MMDR Act in coordination with the Geology & Mining Department.
During patrolling at Bus Stand Baramulla, one tipper and one tractor were intercepted. The Mining Department was accordingly called to the spot, following which necessary action was taken under the relevant provisions of the MMDR Act.
At Nowpora Jagir, a tractor bearing Registration No. JK05E-2367, driven by Imtiyaz Ahmad Lone, resident of Nowpora Jagir, was intercepted while carrying minerals without valid authorization/documents. The vehicle was seized and action was initiated under the MMDR Act.
Similarly, at Chakloo, a tipper bearing Registration No. JK01AP-9215, driven by Ishfaq Ahmad Lone, son of Gh. Mohd. Lone, resident of Khadniyar, was intercepted while carrying illegally extracted sand. Necessary action was taken through the District Mineral Officer, Baramulla, under the MMDR Act.
Baramulla Police reiterates its zero-tolerance approach towards illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of minerals. Enforcement operations will continue across the district in close coordination with the concerned departments.
