PM Modi Poses For Group Photo With News BJP Office Bearers
Srinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi posed for a group photograph with the newly appointed party national office-bearers at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, following a meeting where the party passed a major resolution on ‘Vande Mataram’. The resolution strongly condemned the Congress Working Committee’s decision to re-adopt its 1937 resolution restricting the singing of the song at party programmes to its first two stanzas. Asserting that ‘Vande Mataram’ is an expression of reverence for Bharat Mata and an enduring symbol of national consciousness, the BJP declared it would strongly oppose limiting the song and promised to protect the honour, dignity, and legacy of its full six-stanza version.
To safeguard its status, the BJP reaffirmed the 1950 Constituent Assembly declaration and the law passed by Parliament in 2026 granting statutory protection to the National Song at par with ‘Jana Gana Mana’. The party emphasized that the 1937 political compromise cannot supersede constitutional and parliamentary mandates or yield to communal pressure and vote-bank politics. Citing Mahatma Gandhi’s description of ‘Vande Mataram’ as an “anti-imperialist slogan” rooted in the “purest national sentiment,” the BJP announced a nationwide awareness campaign and special youth drive to educate future generations on the song’s integral role in India’s freedom struggle.
