Kulgam : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested a bootlegger and also confiscated a significant quantity of illicit liquor during a vehicular check.
In a statement issued here on Saturday Police said that a team from Police Station Devsar established a checkpoint at Sopat Crossing and intercepted a Tavera (JK14B-1912) after a short pursuit when the driver attempted to flee. A search yielded 47 bottles (750ml each) of illicit liquor. The driver, Fayaz Ahmad Hajam of Nandi Marg, DH Pora, was arrested on the spot and the vehicle was impounded. A case under FIR No. 55/2026 under Section 48 of the Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Devsar, with police appealing people to report substance-related offenses via 112.
