SMC building inspector suspended following ACB arrest

Srinagar, Aug 21: The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has placed a junior building inspector under suspension following her arrest in a corruption case registered by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), according to an official order issued on Friday.

Ms Gazala Akhter, Junior Building Inspector, Ward No. 28, SMC, has been deemed to have been placed under suspension with effect from August 20, the date of her arrest, the order said.

The action has been taken in connection with FIR No. 11/2026 registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018.

The suspension order, issued by the Commissioner, SMC, said Akhter would remain attached to the office of the Joint Commissioner (Sanitation), SMC, during the period of suspension.

She will be entitled to subsistence allowance at the rate of 50 per cent, comprising half pay and half dearness allowance, in accordance with Article 108-A of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Service Regulations, 1956.
