Kishtwar, Aug 21:A 14-year-old schoolgirl from Kishtwar died while being referred to Doda for medical treatment related to termination of pregnancy, following which police arrested a government teacher allegedly involved in the case.
Officials told GNS that the minor girl (name withheld), resident of Chatroo area of Kishtwar, was reportedly pregnant and was referred from District Hospital Kishtwar to Doda for treatment related to termination of pregnancy. However, she died on way while being shifted.
Following the incident, police registered an FIR and arrested the accused teacher identified as Khalid Hussain Sheikh.
Meanwhile, Chief Education Officer Kishtwar has placed the teacher, posted as Teacher Grade-II at Middle School Bamalpora, Zone Inderwal, under suspension with immediate effect.
Further investigation into the case is underway.(GNS)
