Poonch : Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs Javed Ahmed Rana hoisted the National Flag at the 80th Independence Day function at Sports Stadium Poonch and took the salute at the ceremonial parade.
Rana paid tribute to freedom fighters and highlighted development achievements in power, roads, housing, water supply, tribal welfare and agriculture.
Referring to recent heavy rains, he said 22 people had lost their lives and 366 houses were damaged in the district. He assured affected families of all possible assistance and said restoration of roads, bridges, water and power infrastructure was being prioritised.
The Minister also called upon youth to contribute to nation-building through education, skills, entrepreneurship and innovation.
