Rajouri : Rajouri celebrated the 80th Independence Day at District Police Lines, where District Development Commissioner Abhishek Sharma hoisted the National Flag and took the ceremonial salute.
Highlighting development achievements, Sharma said eight villages are being covered under the Vibrant Villages Programme, while 104 villages have been declared tribal villages under the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan.
He highlighted initiatives in education, healthcare, housing, youth empowerment and connectivity, including the completion of 61,212 of 62,176 houses sanctioned under PMAY-Gramin.
The DDC also stressed disaster preparedness following recent floods, environmental protection and the fight against drug abuse. He called upon citizens, particularly youth, to contribute to nation-building through unity, service and responsibility.
Cultural performances were presented by students and local artists, while officials involved in flood relief and rehabilitation were felicitated.
