LG Sinha, CM Omar condole deaths, Bodies of all victims recovered

Srinagar, Jammu :Five persons were killed after a SUV they were travelling in skidded off the road and plunged into the Chenab River in Kishtwar district on Saturday.

An official said that the vehicle, (bearing no. HR29AG-0648) on its way from Yainwan to Sounder skidded off the road in the Dachhan area and fell into the Chenab River.

He said that soon after the accident, a police team assisted by locals reached the spot and launched a rescue operation, following which the bodies of all victims were recovered from the accident site.

The official identified the deceased as Yasir Malik, son of Ghulam Qadir Malik, of Suid Dachan; Mohsin, son of Ghulam Rasool of Tender Dachan; Mohammad Youns Shah, son of Mohammad Ashraf, of Suid Dachan; Murad Ahmed, of Ramban and Sadam of Banihal.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expresses grief over the loss of five lives and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
In his condolence message LG Sinha said: “Pained by the loss of five lives in a tragic road accident in Dachhan, Kishtwar. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. Have directed the District Administration and senior officials to ensure immediate assistance is provided to those affected.”
CM Omar also expressed deep sorrow over the deaths, saying he was deeply pained by the loss of five precious lives in the unfortunate accident. He conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families, prayed for peace to the departed souls and strength to the families to bear the irreparable loss. The Chief Minister also directed the District Administration, Kishtwar, and senior officials to ensure immediate assistance and all necessary support to those affected by the accident.
