Speaker asks distt admin for ensuring adequate facilities, arrangements for devotees
Srinagar : Speaker Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly r Abdul Rahim Rather has extended warm greetings to the public on the eve of the 20-day annual Urs of Hazrat Sultan Ali AaliBalkhi (RA), commencing August 15 at the revered Pakherpora shrine. Highlighting the profound spiritual significance of the occasion, the Speaker noted that the annual gathering draws thousands of devotees from across the region. He called special attention to the core religious observances, including PoshakBandi on August 25 and ShabKhawani on August 27, which are expected to witness massive turnouts.
To ensure a seamless and peaceful experience for all visitors, Rather directed district authorities to establish robust advance preparations covering uninterrupted power and water supply, healthcare readiness, and rigorous sanitation drives. A comprehensive traffic management and direct transport plan was mandated to connect Pakherpora with major destinations including Srinagar, Budgam, Pulwama, Shopian, and Anantnag. Additionally, the Speaker instructed officials to issue extra ration quotas to protect local residents from supply shortages and ordered strict market inspections to prevent overcharging, while appealing to devotees to maintain discipline, cleanliness, and harmony throughout the sacred event.
