Economics Department Holds Youth Parliament on Viksit Bharat @2047 at CUJ

Jammu : The Department of Economics at the Central University of Jammu hosted a Youth Parliament session titled “Yuva Samvaad for Viksit Bharat @2047” on the eve of Independence Day, providing a platform for students to engage in discussions on economic growth, human capital, and sustainable development.
Inaugurated by Dr. Shaveta Kohli, the event allowed students to assume parliamentary roles and participate in structured debates and policy discussions addressing contemporary challenges. The session was organized into three rounds, beginning with introductory speeches, followed by in-depth discussions on the core themes, and concluding with a Question Hour and an Unmoderated Caucus. Participants engaged in critical dialogue about the opportunities and challenges of economic growth and inclusive development, enhancing their skills in public speaking, negotiation, and policy analysis. Dr. Kohli acknowledged the support of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain for fostering student-centric initiatives, emphasizing the importance of critical thinking in shaping the future of the nation. The event was attended by Dean Students’ Welfare Dr. Ritu Bakshi and Dr. Abhimanyu Dev Singh Billawaria, who commended the students for their preparation and the quality of their deliberations, highlighting the significance of youth involvement in democratic processes. Awards were presented to recognize outstanding performances, with Gourvi named Best Delegate and Paranvi as Best Speaker, among others. The initiative aimed to promote experiential learning and student leadership, encouraging youth to contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047. The program concluded with a strong emphasis on the importance of informed youth participation in shaping India’s developmental future.
